This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies iWorldAfric uses on iworldafric.com, why we use them, and how you can control them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy, which explains more fully how we handle your personal data and what rights you have over it.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet, or phone when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to give the site owner information about how the site is being used. A cookie usually contains the name of the site that set it, how long it lasts, and a value, which is often a randomly generated identifier.
You will see cookies described in a few different ways:
- First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by another organisation, such as an analytics provider, whose code runs on the page.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or until you delete them.
Other similar technologies
Alongside cookies, this website uses your browser's local storage for two things: to cache published website content, such as blog posts and site settings, so that pages load faster on repeat visits, and to remember the cookie choice you make, so we do not ask you again on every page. That record holds the choice itself, the date you made it, and the version of this policy it was made against. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never sent to our servers, and neither entry holds personal data about you. You can clear it at any time by clearing site data for iworldafric.com in your browser. We do not use web beacons, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or advertising tags on this website.
How do we use cookies?
We use cookies for one purpose only: to understand how visitors use our website so that we can improve it. We ask you first. On your first visit a notice appears at the foot of the page with three choices — Accept all, Reject all, and Manage preferences, which lets you decide category by category. Rejecting takes exactly one click, the same as accepting.
Until you choose to allow them, no analytics cookie is set and the Google Analytics script is not even downloaded, so no request about your visit reaches Google at all. We record that decision through Google Consent Mode, which starts in the denied state before any tag runs. The table below describes the standard categories of cookies and states plainly which of them we actually use.

These cookies are set by Google Analytics 4. We load it on a page only after you have allowed analytics cookies, so if you have not, nothing in this table is set. Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC act as our analytics provider; you can read Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

The data these cookies collect — pages viewed, referring site, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address — is described in more detail under What data do we collect? in our Privacy Policy. We retain analytics data for no longer than 14 months. Google may process this data outside Kenya, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy.
How to manage cookies
You can refuse, delete, and block cookies at any time, and you do not need our permission to do so. Because the only cookies on this site are analytics cookies, blocking them will not stop you from reading any page or from submitting a job application — the site will work exactly as it does now, and we will simply not count your visit.
Change your choice on this website
Every page of this website carries a link in the footer, and the link above does the same thing. It reopens the notice you were shown on your first visit, with a switch for analytics, so you can turn measurement on or off whenever you want. Turning it off stops the measurement immediately and deletes the analytics cookies already on your device. Your choice is kept in this browser, so you will need to set it again on another browser or device, or after you clear site data.
Opt out of Google Analytics
The most direct way to stop the analytics described here is to install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which prevents Google Analytics from measuring your visits to this and any other website. It takes effect immediately and does not depend on any action by us.
Change your browser settings
Every major browser lets you see which cookies are stored on your device, delete them, block third-party cookies, or block cookies from a specific site such as this one. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards cookies when you close it. Do Not Track
Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC) are browser signals that ask websites not to track you. There is no agreed standard for how a website must respond to them, but this website responds to both: if your browser sends either signal, the analytics switch in our notice starts off and the notice tells you why, so nothing is measured unless you deliberately turn it on. The signal is never read as permission. Analytics here is off for every visitor until it is allowed, so you are covered whether or not your browser sends a signal. The opt-out methods above remain effective regardless. This is explained further under Do Not Track in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
If we start using a new cookie, or change what an existing cookie is used for, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date below before the change takes effect. Where a new cookie requires your consent, we will ask for it first: the stored record of your choice carries the policy version it was made against, so a change to what we ask about brings the notice back rather than carrying an old answer forward.
